New York Brooklyn Transfers – Update

This update should certainly be of interest to Cunard passengers who sail to New York on Queen Mary 2 and who wish to travel quickly and cheaply ($2.75 per person one-way) on a new ferry service between Brooklyn’s Red Hook Cruise Terminal and Manhattan…

The NYC Ferry,  operated by a company called Hornblower…

They now run a regular service from the ‘Atlantic Basin’ adjacent the cruise Terminal

A closer view….

*****

NB. The NYC Ferry only commenced operations in June 2017 after my photographs from QM2 were taken. I have highlighted the position of the jetty above and captured a more recent shot of the installed jetty…

Solent Richard is most  grateful to  fellow Cunard Facebook Fanzine member Adrian for the following recent photographs which clearly illustrate how close the NYC Ferry jetty is to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

******

So there we have it. Just exit the Terminal, turn left and follow the pavement for less than  a few minutes…

The service currently runs throughout the week on the following timetable…

Red Hook to Pier 11 Manhattan

and from Pier 11 to Red Hook

*****

As can easily be seen from the above timetables the journey time is just 30 minutes.

On arrival at Pier 11…

…Manhattan is your oyster.

Pier 11 is located in downtown Manhattan on South Street between Wall Street and Gouveneur Lane

The nearest MTA subway is the Wall Street #2 and #3 Station indicated on the above map.

There are no direct transport lines between Pier 11 and say the 9/11 memorial. However a walk along Wall Street, crossing Broadway and past Trinity Church and then right along Greenwich Street will take approximately 18 – 20 minutes.

To reach Pier 11 from the subway just walk down Wall St. 2 blocks to South Street turn right onto  South Street and  Pier 11 will be on the left…

Solent Richard’s thanks are extended to Cruise Critic and in particular their renowned member and contributor,  ‘Post Captain’,  a number of whose photographs  have been  utilised in producing this review.
